Who is Soluo?

Soluo is a multidisciplinary team of 35 septic system experts, operating across all regions of Québec. Since 1995, the team has inspected, designed, and installed more than 500 septic systems every year.

Installation Steps

The first step is to review the soil report, based on the percolation test and grain-size analysis. This data is used to determine which type of septic system is best suited to the property: conventional, sand filter, secondary, tertiary, or above-ground.

In the Lanaudière region, soils are highly varied: sandy in Saint-Côme and Saint-Alphonse-Rodriguez, rocky around Rawdon, and more clay-based near Joliette, Berthierville, and L’Assomption.

This analysis helps adapt the system choice to the site’s characteristics and ensures compliance with Regulation Q-2, r.22.

Once the system has been selected, the installation plans and technical documents are prepared for the municipal permit application.

The file includes the soil report, detailed plans, and recommendations from a technologist or engineer.

Municipalities such as Rawdon, Saint-Donat, Saint-Félix-de-Valois, Sainte-Émélie-de-l’Énergie, and Chertsey require these documents before authorizing any work.

This step ensures regulatory compliance and helps avoid delays in obtaining the permit.

Once the permit has been issued, the team carries out the excavation and your Soluo expert installs the septic tank and main components.

The scope of the work depends on the site’s slope and soil type. For example, in Saint-Jean-de-Matha or Sainte-Béatrix, properties may be sloped or rocky, while in Joliette or Crabtree, flatter ground allows for faster installation.

Each system is installed in accordance with environmental standards and approved plans to ensure optimal and long-lasting performance.

The leaching field is then built to ensure proper filtration and treatment of wastewater in the soil.

Its design varies according to the site’s topography and soil composition. A sandy lot in Saint-Côme or Saint-Alphonse-Rodriguez generally allows for a conventional installation, whereas heavier or poorly drained soils in L’Assomption or Berthierville often require a more advanced treatment system, such as Bionest, Hydro-Kinetic, Ecoflo, or System O)).

This step ensures efficient, environmentally friendly treatment tailored to site conditions.

After the work is completed, a final inspection is carried out to verify that the system complies with the plans and the municipal permit.

Once approved, a certificate of compliance and an inspection report are provided to the property owner and the municipality.

This final step officially confirms the commissioning of the septic system and certifies that it meets all standards set by the Ministry of the Environment and the specific requirements of Lanaudière and your municipality.

FAQ

The cost of a septic system in the Lanaudière region depends on the type of system chosen, the size of the home, and site conditions. On average, you should expect to pay between $15,000 and $35,000 for a complete installation, including the septic tank, leaching field, labour, and materials.

A conventional system on a sandy lot in Saint-Alphonse-Rodriguez or Saint-Côme will generally cost less than a tertiary system, which is often required on rocky or sloped properties such as in Rawdon, Saint-Donat, or Sainte-Béatrix.

This price usually includes the soil analysis, system design, excavation work, and compliance with Regulation Q-2, r.22.

Installing a septic system in Lanaudière typically takes between 2 and 5 business days, depending on the topography and the type of system being installed.

In more accessible areas such as Joliette, Crabtree, or Saint-Félix-de-Valois, work progresses quickly. On more complex or steep terrain, such as in Chertsey or Saint-Donat, the work may take a bit longer to respect natural slopes and ensure a stable installation.
Each phase — excavation, installation, leveling, connection, and inspection — is carried out with precision to guarantee optimal and long-lasting performance.

A well-installed and properly maintained septic system has an average lifespan of 25 to 30 years.
The septic tank, if pumped every 2 to 4 years, can last for several decades. The leaching field, which is more exposed to soil saturation, typically lasts around 25 years before needing to be rebuilt, depending on usage.

In Lanaudière, sandy soils in Saint-Alphonse-Rodriguez and Sainte-Émélie-de-l’Énergie tend to promote longer system life, whereas heavier, clay-based soils in L’Assomption and Berthierville require more rigorous maintenance.

Preventive maintenance and regular pumping ensure optimal performance and help avoid costly repairs over the long term.
